Basic Dyes List

Chemworld International manufactures and supplies basic dyes (also known as cationic dyes) to industrial buyers across the United States and globally. Basic dyes are water-soluble colorants that carry a positive ionic charge, giving them strong affinity for negatively charged substrates including acrylic fibers, modified polyester, paper pulp, and certain leather types. They produce exceptionally bright, vivid colors and are widely used in applications where high intensity and fluorescence are required.

Our basic dye range includes over 20 shades covering blues, greens, reds, violets, oranges, and yellows in both powder and liquid form. Key grades include Basic Violet 10 (Rhodamine B), Basic Green 4 (Malachite Green), Basic Blue 9 (Methylene Blue), and Basic Blue 41 for acrylic dyeing.

FAQ

Basic dyes work best on acrylic and modacrylic fibers, paper, and leather. They are not suitable for cotton, polyester, or nylon without a mordant or chemical modification of the substrate. For cotton or polyester applications, reactive or disperse dyes are more appropriate.

Yes — 'basic dye' and 'cationic dye' are interchangeable terms in industrial colorant usage. They refer to the same class of positively charged, water-soluble dyes.

Basic Violet 10 (Rhodamine B) is a fluorescent pink-red dye used in inks, paper, and cosmetics. Basic Violet 1 (Methyl Violet) produces a blue-violet shade and is commonly used in biological staining, ink formulations, and paper coloring. Each has distinct hue, lightfastness, and application suitability.

Yes. Select basic dye grades are available as liquid concentrates, which offer easier handling and dissolution for liquid ink, paper, and textile application systems. See our Liquid Dyes page for available liquid grades.

Basic dyes are known for their exceptional brightness but have relatively lower lightfastness compared to reactive or disperse dyes. They are best suited for indoor applications or where light exposure is limited. For outdoor applications requiring color permanence, please discuss your requirements with our technical team.

Yes. Sample quantities are available for all basic dye grades. Contact us with your specific shade requirements and application details and we will send a sample for evaluation.
