Liquid Dyes

Chemworld International manufactures and supplies liquid dyes for industrial and commercial buyers across the United States. Our liquid dye range consists of pre-dissolved concentrates of acid and basic dyes are ready to dilute and use immediately, without the handling challenges of dry powder dissolution. Liquid dyes are preferred in continuous dyeing systems, ink formulation, automated dosing equipment, and paper mills where accurate, repeatable dye additions are critical.

Available liquid grades include Acid Black 194, Acid Blue 9 (FD&C Blue 1 equivalent), Acid Orange 7, Acid Red 40, Acid Red 52, Acid Yellow 23 (FD&C Yellow 5 equivalent), Acid Yellow 73, as well as Basic Green 4, Basic Violet 1, Basic Violet 3, and Basic Violet 10 among others.

Benefits of Liquid Dyes

  • No dissolution step — ready to use directly in dye systems
  • Accurate dosing — precise concentrations for consistent shade reproducibility
  • No dust — eliminates powder handling and inhalation risk
  • Faster production — reduced process preparation time in automated systems

The color shades displayed should only be considered a representation of the indicated dye or pigment. Actual color can depend on varying factors, including the desired application. Product samples are recommended for testing before use and/or purchase.

FAQ

Concentrations vary by grade and are specified on the product data sheet. Most of our liquid dye concentrates are standardized to a fixed strength for easy dilution calculation. Contact our team for the specific concentration of the grade you need.

Yes — liquid dyes are the same chemistries as their powder counterparts, pre-dissolved for convenience. Application methods, substrate compatibility, and fastness properties are identical. The choice between liquid and powder depends on your process preference and handling capabilities.

Liquid dyes should be stored at room temperature in a cool, shaded location. Avoid freezing (which can cause precipitation) and high heat (above 40°C). Containers should be kept tightly sealed. Shelf life is typically 12–24 months under proper storage conditions.

Some of our liquid grades are equivalent to FD&C certified colorants (e.g., Acid Blue 9 is FD&C Blue 1; Acid Yellow 23 is FD&C Yellow 5). However, for FDA-certified batch documentation required for food, drug, and cosmetic use, please order from our dedicated FD&C Dyes and Lakes page.

Liquid dyes are available in pints, gallons, 5-gallon pails, and 55-gallon drums. Sample sizes are also available for initial evaluation. Contact our team for pricing and lead times on your preferred pack size.
